VK Grout Plug

Description:  VK GROUT PLUGS are constructed of aluminum and rubber with a soft steel pipe in the centre. This allows the GROUT PLUG to be drilled out. The built-in check valve stops pressure in the hole which makes it ideal for grouting. The VK GROUT PLUG can be adapted to drill rods by a left-hand pipe thread which allows you to remove the drill rods after grouting. The GROUT PLUGS are approximately 33 cm long and weigh approximately 1 kg.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FOR TYPE “A”
1. The VK GROUT PLUG TYPE “A” is designed so that it can be placed anywhere in a drill hole in order that grouting can be carried out through drill rods or pipes which can then be removed when grouting is finished.

2. Before insertion, care should be taken that wedges are pushed back to collar on pipe and be sure plastic ball is held off centre by sliding aluminum head back, thus allowing water to pass through pipe to relieve pressure.

3. The plug is inserted any distance in a hole then must be pulled back to engage wedges which are self-tightening, then followed by a strong pull to force the rubber over the cone forming a seal.

4. On down holes an upward pressure has to be maintained after plug is engaged until grouting pressure is built up, or weight of rods tends to push plug farther down the hole.

5. When plug is connected to left-hand adapter it should not be screwed too tight to the adapter as plug may turn in the hole when disconnecting rod or pipe from plug.

6. When old or lumpy cement is used it should be screened first.

7. When grouting is completed, a small quantity of water pumped through plug ensures that ball seat is clear.
